The Story of the Yeezy Boost 350 Tennis with Stadium Goods
Kanye West is almost an 18th century pirate. Stick with this idea. Similar traits include: not being afraid to jump ship (switching from Nike to Adidas in 2013), having a totally unapologetic attitude to life (just look at his Twitter account), attacking enemies (Taylor Swift), and having a knack for collecting gold (237 awards under his belt and counting).
So if Kanye is like a modern day Blackbeard, then what’s his reward? No, it’s not Kim Kardashian. It’s the Adidas x Yeezy sneaker, of course. And the holy grail of treasure? The Yeezy Boost 350.
The shoe that defines a decade, the Yeezy Boost 350 is the most successful work from the partnership between Kanye West and Adidas.
Kanye leaves Nike and goes to Adidas
“Kanye’s first impact on the sneaker world was his collaboration with Nike”
-Fresco Wilson from Stadium Goods
Before bragging that his Yeezy brand overtook Air Jordans, Kanye was working with Nike on a collaborative line of “Air Yeezys.” The high top sneaker was first released in 2007 and was a huge success, desired by tennis enthusiasts across the world. It was revealed that Nike refused to grant West royalties from the sales and thus, leading him to leave the American sports brand in 2013. Starting the rumors about a move to Nike’s biggest competitor, Adidas.
ADIDAS CONFIRMS COLLABORATION WITH KANYE
It’s the beginning of something new. And it was a match made in the stars. On December 3, 2013, Adidas confirmed their collaboration with the rapper, a deal that helped put Adidas back in the race.
